I Received an email the other day from a colleague (I work with many entrepreneurs that produce films and many different products and services). For those of you who know me, know I also offer many different types of online courses, products and services. Kong shared this info with me and I defiantly wanted to share this with you here on my blog.

I never thought I’d be writing a blog about baby powder and asbestos to thousands of people.

But after this shocking report leaked last week, I decided to pass this on.

Because, embedded in this tale of cancerous baby powder is an important lesson about transparency and trust for us all.


A recent exposé on Johnson & Johnson (the multi-billion dollar company behind household names like Band-Aid, Tylenol, Neutrogena and more) claims the company had asbestos in their baby powder for years.

Even on the surface, that sounds bad...

But it gets way, way, way worse.

Let me show you why…

Having asbestos in your products = BAD (asbestos is known to cause cancer).

Having asbestos in a product mainly used for babies = VERY BAD (you really need to be careful any time kids are involved).

But the most damning part of the report was that Johnson & Johnson executives allegedly knew the powders tested positive for small amounts of asbestos … and they didn’t tell regulators for decades.

The company is getting hammered for this. They lost more than $50,000,0000,000 (Yes, that’s 50 followed by 10 zeros!) in market value just two days after the report went live.

And the public is furious. Some have even said that they’ll never buy Johnson & Johnson products again.

That’s how a situation goes from BAD to TOTALLY Belly Up.

But wait, why am I talking about baby powder in a blog for people interested in my services such as my online courses and growing their business?

On the one hand, seeing stories like this makes my blood boil. And I want to make sure "Jump cut" readers know about companies like this so they can avoid them.

But on the other hand, it made me remember and realize how important it is to be open, honest and earn the trust of your customers every single day.

Because whether you’re standing in a grocery store trying to decide what baby powder to buy or if you’re sitting at your computer trying to choose an online course, trust is everything.

As the old saying goes, “It takes a lifetime to build a reputation, seconds to destroy it.”

Ive learned in life and in business some things don't always go right, thats for sure-That's why being upfront and honest when things go wrong is the only way to have the trust of your customers. That’s one of the reasons Im highlighting this on my blog so everyone can see... We don't pressure anyone to do a testimonial. They are happy to share how it's changed their lives. I know of many companies who strong arm their clients to write testimonials.

IE: "I want you to go on Facebook and say good things about me, and the great results I'm doing for you. If not, I won't produce the results for you any longer."

(Not to mention, those who post random made up testimonials).
